Know Your Body - 18


Dear friends,

I think many of you are of the opinion that when I say about simple facts, I am saying something very primitive and that I am soon going to reside in some forest (In the present day, it is a luxury, and who would not want to go there, especially after seeing AVATAR), to carry out all these things.

But actually, what we wish to impress is, "BEING AWARE" of certain facts, will help us in balancing our LIFE STYLE. Say, it is quite difficult for all of us to go to sleep by 9 pm, as coming back to home itself is after this time, with all the city side travel involved. so what should we do to balance this...."Take a good shower to cool our system, and avoid eating late night heavy meals, and go for simple fruits..." If our digestion is a bit erratic, skip a meal or two, and take natural diet (fruits alone) instead....and so on.

And one more thing is if we try to record these little thoughts in our system, it will help in changing our attitudes/and those around us, especially the business community, as well. I recently read an article on things to avoid for cancer, which includes white sugar./ sugar free substitutes as well. Instead it says to take :Brown sugar: (unpurified), which is good for health.

We are not going to go out of the way to carry out all these. Whatever is available/suitable for us, we can always follow. So many Khadi Bhavans are near our residences, where we can obtain Palm sugar, karuppatti , cooking oil (without the process of purification with petroleum products). If we do not subscribe to these, even these would be scarce and rare for us to obtain in future. So whatever is good and within our limits, we can always reach. 

In tamil there is a saying
"வைத்தியனுக்கு கொடுப்பதை வாணிபனுக்கு கொடு.... " This has been said about the businessmen who were with good intention and worried about our health. But now we see only commercial companies all over us , who take our health for a ride. So it is better we are aware about all these......

Though milk was said to be hard on our digestive system, the products of milk, in other forms, such as buttermilk and ghee are always good for our health, and we can take them in our daily diet. But recently, even many elders have stopped taking ghee in their daily intake, which has resulted in gastric problems etc., Definitely ghee will do us only good if we take it in limited quantities everyday with our food. It cures of many ulcers as well.

பால் பற்றி பதார்த்த குணசிந்தாமணியில் கூறுவது, நோயற்ற பசுவின் பாலை கரந்த ஒரு சாமத்துக்குள் உண்ண அது அமுதமென்கிறது. பால் மிக அதிகச் சத்துள்ளது. சீரணத் திறனறிந்து,  பாலினை நன்கு சமைத்து ( இரண்டு பங்கு அளவு நீர்  சேர்த்து காய்ச்சி 3ல் ஒன்றாக சுருக்கி), குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்துக்குள் சாப்பிட அது மிக நன்மை தரும்.
தயிர். முதிர்ந்த தயிர் உண்பது சிறப்பு. அது சிறிது  சூட்டைத் தரும்.
தேவையறிந்து உண்பவர்க்கு நன்மை தரும்.இரவு உணவில் தவிர்ப்பது நல்லது.
மோர் மூன்று நேரமும் உணவில் சேர்த்துக் கொள்ளலாம்.
நெய் குளிர்ச்சி தரும். புண்ணாற்றும் எளிதில் சீரணமாகும்.
 
எதுவானாலும் உடல்த் தேவை, சீரணத் தகுதிஉண்ணும் நேரம் சேர்த்துண்ணும் உணவு என பலவற்றைக் கருத்தில் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
